Braindates: How to leave an event with a lot more than business cards

Braindate is a peer learning platform developed by e180, a fellow Canadian B Corp company. In a nutshell, Braindate helps people connect based on shared interests, skipping the awkward small talk and letting them dive right in to meaningful conversations. Braindate is an important part of events like StartupFest, ROI Community Summits, and GE leadership seminars.

In the Fall of 2019, e180 joined forces with Cathexis to evaluate the impact of Braindate. After mining three years’ worth of Braindate records and hearing from e180 clients and Braindate participants, we were excited to see how Braindate creates a unique learning experience.

Braindate sparks new connections that can grow into longer-term relationships. Many braindaters stayed in touch after the event, and some have become friends, mentors or business partners. With braindates, participants direct their own learning; over half learned something that was actually useful to them in their work or personal lives. Perhaps more importantly, many gained an appreciation of how much they can learn from those around them and how much they have to offer others.

We’re looking forward to see e180’s next steps, and checking out the Virtual Braindates they recently launched!
