The Just Clean Your Hands hand hygiene improvement program is a multi-faceted, hospital-based intervention that targets senior managers, administrators, and health care workers, as well as patients and their primary visitors. The main goal of the program is to foster incremental and sustainable long-term change in the appropriate compliance with hand hygiene practices by health care workers in hospitals. In 2007, the MOHLTC pilot tested the program in ten hospitals across Ontario over a period of six months.
Cathexis carried out an evaluation of the pilot program to assess its implementation and effectiveness, as well as to identify ways of improving the program prior to its wider implementation. The final evaluation report focuses on changes in compliance with hand hygiene standards, as well as lessons for province-wide implementation.
