The International Year of Evaluation is Here!
When is it?
Now! 2015 was officially declared as the International Year of Evaluation (EvalYear) at the Third International Conference on National Evaluation Capacities held in Brazil in 2013.
What is it?The goal of designating 2015 as the EvalYear is to advocate and promote evaluation and evidence-based policy making at international, regional, national, and local levels.
Why take part?
2015 is a big year for evaluation! EvalYear will position evaluation in the global policy arena and raise awareness of the important role monitoring and evaluation plays in equitable and sustainable human development. By taking part you can contribute to this important catalyst for thinking, debate, and action at international, regional, national, and local levels.
Who is leading it?
The EvalYear movement is led by Eval Partners, the global partnership to strengthen national capacities for equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluation systems. Eval Partners has 34 member organizations including the Canadian Evaluation Society.
The Torch!
Similar to the Olympics, EvalYear will have a symbolic torch. This torch will be passed throughout the international evaluation community at a number of EvalYear events around the world. Each of the events are centered around one or more of the following themes: identifying key future priorities for the global evaluation community, bridging the gap between the evaluation community (supply side) and the policy makers community (demand side), mainstreaming equity-focused and gender-responsive evaluations in Sustainable Development Goals, and developing equity-focused and gender-responsive National Evaluation Policies.
All of us here at Cathexis are excited to take part in the upcoming Canadian event happening at the Canadian Evaluation Society Conference in Montreal this May. To check out other events click here.
