Lais is enthusiastic about data-driven approaches to advance social justice. She recently completed a Masters of Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto with a Collaborative Specialization in Addiction Studies. During her studies, she conducted empirical research, explored the intersections between public health, substance use, and the justice system, and engaged in knowledge mobilization through an international grassroots network of students.
Along with her research experience, Lais brings over five years of practice as a legal advisor in the Brazilian justice sector. She is experienced at synthesizing multiple lines of evidence, communicating findings, and developing practical recommendations to support socially responsible decision-making.
