Becoming a certified B Corp organization is one way we have committed to making a difference as a business, but how about in our personal lives? There are hundreds of B Corps out there, and many of them offer a much more environmentally sustainable and socially conscious option to other consumer goods, foods, and services out there. Let’s take a look at some of our team’s favourite B Corps who are doing business differently. Maybe you’ll discover a new one on this list!
Lynn likes to talk up local B Corp Bench Brewing Company, located outside of Beamsville in the Niagara region. “They are committed to being a zero wastewater footprint by recycling 100% of their brewing wastewater!”
Liz says, “Lately, I’m really into Allbirds, which makes super comfy footwear! I have two pairs and they’re basically all I wear now. My husband is also obsessed. I also recently learned about bookshop.org, which is a great concept for supporting independent bookstores. I hope it or something like it comes to Canada.”
Isabella is a fan of Prose shampoo (“I fell for the Instagram ads about a year ago and have not looked back since. I love that the shampoo is customizable based on my hair type, small-batch and made to order, refillable, etc.”) and Cheekbone Beauty (“the only ‘clean’ makeup brand I’ve found that is ACTUALLY good and I like their transparency around sustainability”). For a B Corp close to home, she loves Propeller Coffee: “Best beans in the city IMO and I appreciate their commitment to sustainability.”
Jacquelyn, one of our newest team members, admits she’s “still getting to know all the different B Corps” (so are the rest of us! the list keeps growing), and she’s pleased to learn that Ozery Family Bakery is a B Corp. She loves their morning rounds, which are great to take camping.
