We’re getting behind the global climate strike. Here’s why.

Did you know we have less than 18 months to take urgent climate action? 2020 is the deadline for global carbon dioxide emissions peaking if we’re to keep the planet below an average 1.5C increase in global temperatures.

The climate crisis is an emergency: our hotter planet is hurting millions of people. Cathexis recognizes that the climate crisis is not just a business and economic risk, but a humanitarian risk. We need to act right now.

This is why Cathexis, along with other B Corporations, is getting behind the global #climatestrike. Greta Thunberg’s lone protest caught the world’s attention last year, and has spread to millions of school children who are sounding the alarm. School strikers in Canada are aiming to make September 27 the biggest Canadian mobilization on climate action. Adults in over 150 countries are throwing their support behind them. Millions will be walking out of their homes, work, school or universities to declare a climate emergency and show our politicians what action in line with climate science and justice means.

We’ve also added our signature to the “Climate Action Now” statement from business leaders who are calling for immediate action by policymakers to make a just transition to a low-carbon economy.

The year 2020 will be a turning point for the earth – only if we collectively take action now.
